FASU Honours Prof. Modupe Adelabu with Prestigious Academic Excellence Award
The outgoing National Executive of the Federation of Ado-Ekiti Students’ Union (FASU) has presented former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. (Mrs.) Modupe Adeola Adelabu, with a prestigious Academic Excellence Award in recognition of her lifelong contributions to education, student welfare, and youth mentorship.
The presentation took place during an executive courtesy visit to the renowned academic, coming just two days after she received a similar honor from the Housing Youth assembly for her contributions to human development.
Recognized as a Pillar of Support for Students
The FASU delegation was led by outgoing President, Aare Adeyemi Temitope Omolayo, alongside incoming President, Comr. Prince Falade Omolade Oluwaseun, and other executive members of the union.
Presenting the award, the student leaders praised Prof. Adelabu as an “Academic Icon” and a dependable pillar of support whose impact extends far beyond the classroom. They highlighted her continuous financial assistance, academic counseling, moral guidance, and empowerment programs aimed at uplifting university students across the state.
“Mama Prof. Modupe Adelabu is more than a benefactor to us; she is an academic giant, a mother, and a mentor whose passion for young people remains remarkable,” the union executives stated during the presentation.
“Put God and Academics First” — Prof. Adelabu Advises Youth
Receiving the delegation, Prof. Adelabu expressed deep gratitude to the student body for the recognition, noting that she was particularly touched by their thoughtful decision to return and show appreciation.
Offering motherly advice, the distinguished professor urged the students to maintain strict discipline, focus on their studies, and prioritize their character development while in school.
Drawing inspiration from scripture, she reminded the student leaders:
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
She emphasized that academic qualifications, personal character, and integrity remain the primary keys to determining their success in life.
Charge Against Cultism and Negative Peer Influence
Also present during the visit was Mrs. Toyosi Omope, sister to Prof. Adelabu, who advised the students on the importance of maintaining a good reputation and choosing the right associations.

Quoting the biblical admonition that “evil communication corrupts good manners,” Mrs. Omope cautioned the youth against joining cult groups or associating with negative influences capable of jeopardizing their future.
