APC Ekiti Condemns Malicious Rumors About Governor Oyebanji, Demands Retraction
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ekiti State Chapter, has strongly condemned recent media reports regarding the health and status of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, describing the publications as false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to cause public panic.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, September 17, 2026, the party clarified that Governor Oyebanji remains in good health and continues to perform his executive duties without hindrance.
Party Dismisses Reports as “Gutter Journalism”
The statement, signed by the APC Ekiti State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, characterized the circulating rumors as unverified speculation sponsored by political opponents who are unsettled by the administration’s progress.
Dipe stated that the publication violated basic journalistic ethics, lacking credible sources or factual foundation.

“We wish to state unequivocally that the said publication is nothing but conjecture, blatant lie, and unnecessary speculation concocted in the pit of malice to mislead the public,” the statement read. “Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is hale, hearty, and fully focused on delivering good governance to the people of Ekiti State.”
Reassurance to Citizens and Diaspora
The ruling party assured residents of Ekiti State, both at home and abroad, that the state leadership remains stable and functioning efficiently under Governor Oyebanji’s administration.
The party urged the public to disregard the reports and remain calm, reiterating its confidence in the Governor’s ongoing policy initiatives and development agenda across the state.
APC Reaffirms Unity and 2026 Re-election Plan
Addressing the state’s political timeline, the APC state chapter reaffirmed its complete support for Governor Oyebanji, expressing confidence in his reelection prospects for the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial cycle.
“His Excellency remains the choice of Ekiti people and will be sworn in for a second term on October 16, 2026, serving till 2030 to continue his transformational work,” Dipe added. “The APC in Ekiti remains united, strong, and fully behind Governor Oyebanji.”
The party concluded by calling on the people of Ekiti (“Ekiti Kete”) to ignore misinformation and continue supporting the current administration.
