Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has issued a firm directive to his political supporters, aides, and party loyalists, warning that under no circumstances should anyone elevate him above God, the creator of the universe.

Speaking during the monthly government house praise service in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji called for an immediate halt to grandiose political appellations, insisting that the focus must shift entirely from politics to public service.

“No more titles like ‘Jinx Breaker’ or ‘Record Maker.’ Please, address me simply as Mr. Governor. And let it be clear: no mortal should be equated with God. Politics is officially over; it is now time for governance,” Oyebanji declared.

His admonition aligns with the biblical passage in Matthew 23:12: “Whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

A Shining Example of Leadership and Humility

Reacting to the Governor’s statement, the founder of the Akogun Tai Oguntayo Foundation (ATOF), Dr. Tai Oguntayo, described Governor Oyebanji’s selflessness and humility as truly remarkable and worthy of emulation across the political spectrum.

Dr. Oguntayo, who is also a former State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), noted that true leadership is defined by service rather than titles.

“His humility reflects a deep understanding that leadership is a privilege from God and an opportunity to serve the people, not a means of self-aggrandisement,” Dr. Oguntayo stated.

He further prayed for God to endow Governor Oyebanji with greater wisdom, physical strength, divine protection, and uncommon grace as he navigates the responsibilities of governance in his second term.
