The answer cannot be yes or no,because,it is neither here nor there,as this has
its advantages and disadvantages. When couples maintain one account, for this to
work very well there must be a lot of understanding, element of trust, positive
perception of each other, acceptance of the needs of both and that of one and
the acceptance of extended familiar responsibilities of each other and that of
one. Where all of these and some other vital ingredients are present, then
operating a common account can be possible. But of course, it is certain that
husbands and wives financial needs cannot be the same. First of all, God and the
culture has made the man head of the family and as such, the man’s financial
responsibilities are greater than the woman’s. Therefore, if they engage in
same account,it may help, the woman already knows the financial size of her
man, as well as,the available amount in the account, both have the knowledge of
where such money would be channeled
into,so,there won’t be room for romantic picture of any sort as regards
superfluity. Also, since the wife’s money is available as part of the financial
pool, this tends to prevent her from making undue demands and may even make her
to be more supportive not only as a wife but also as a virtuous woman whom God
has ordained
her to be, as women are believed to live larger than men. Generally
also, when a woman’s X needs are met at one time and another Y needs arise
she  expects them to be met again compulsorily, such thought is inbuilt in
women. Joint account, therefore, helps couples to pursue financial goals
together vigorously, it stabilizes the financial strength of the family, it
promotes love and  financial responsibility in the home,it saves couples
from frivolous spending bearing it in mind that, the money belongs not just to
one person but,the family. However, there is a danger, if over the years the
fundamental thing that has cemented the couple which is Love diminishes and
their matrimony becomes porous, such that, either or both of them begin to seek
love or sexual satisfaction outside their homes. This, therefore, exposes
either or both parties contribution/s to danger-as deductions will be made to
finance sexual philandering, priorities placed on frivolities and the likes.

Yes, it is very good for couples to operate same account because, it will
enhance their productivity, It will help them to manage the home front better,
It will promote healthy family ties, it will also help in meeting the needs in
the home at the right time and in case of eventuality, they will have something
to fall back on.  As for withdrawal, If the couple are both signatories to
the account they can do things to a large extent, but in the case of only one
signatory, there will be what is called pegging as to the amount of money they
can withdraw, but at least the home front will be going on smoothly.

Couples should not operate the same account. In every family, there must be a
head and that head is the man. The man, who is the head of the family is also
the head of the wife. The wife has come as a helper, in other words, she is
just a supporter in the family. Therefore, if any situation warrants the
opening of or operating a common account between the spouses, this should be
done only when they intend to start a business or association together, but in
the case of personal/private business, the man does not need to join
account with his wife. There are so many reasons in connection with the above.
Once the woman knows there is money in the account, her monetary demands
increase, not putting into consideration what informed the man to have kept so
much or such an amount in the account. The man may have a hidden project which
he does not want to disclose to his wife at the initial stage, probably, her
knowledge of it may in one way or the other truncate the success of such
project.

That is impossible. The man is the head of the home just as Christ is the head
of the church, so,I cannot keep a joint account with my wife, period! I am the
only one doing my job. I am a surveyor by the special grace of God and I know
the struggles I go through in the bush, she cannot engage
in them with me. What if such account is opened for the sake of the children?
It cannot be opened for the sake of the children. The children would have to
open their separate accounts.
