Reading Culture: Fayose’s Aide Urges Authors to Explore Social Media

Special Assistant to Ekiti state Governor on Communication
and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka has urged members of the Association of
Nigerian Authors (ANA) to reflect the new age of social media in their works as
a strategy to improve reading culture among the youths.

 

Olayinka who received the ANA delegate recently in his
office in Ado-Ekiti also observed that the only way for authors and writers to
revive reading culture among the Nigerian youths, is for them to change the
pattern of their writings and accommodate the new trend of social media
platforms.

  

The Special Assistant noted that the younger generation of
Nigerians can hardly be separated from the internet and it’s many sites, hence,
writers and authors should catch in on this and integrate new media into their
literary works.

  

Earlier in his speech, Ekiti State chairman of the Association
of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Akogun Tai Oguntayo who led the ANA delegates on a
courtesy visit to the BSES canvassed mutual understanding and collaborations
between ANA and the broadcasting station.

Oguntayo listed the gains of the collaborations, noting that
writers and broadcasters are partners in progress whose works can help build
the nation and develop society in general.

Other members of the delegate are Dr Sola Balogun, state
secretary, Dr Laide Nasir, Head of Theatre and Media Arts, Federal University
Oye Ekiti, Mr Adeolu Ajobiewe state treasurer and Mr Oyewole of Theatre and
