EKITI 2018: Danger Ahead of Ekiti APC Guber Primaries

Perhaps my
view is different from the way some of my Party political veterans and tacticians
are looking at issues. To them the next Ekiti governorship election will be
easily and automatically won All Progressives Congress. A friend of mine even
said it would be a work over. Such is my prayer.

I However hold a contrary view and this I have had the opportunity
to express in so many fora .It is not uncommon to hear our people saying that
the major sectors viz: Ekiti Civil and Public Servants; Artisans, Youth and
Students Associations, Market men and women, Ekiti Men and Women Economic and
Leadership Structures, Religion and Traditional Institutions, Independent
Associations and Organised bodies( far from the numerical strength of any
Party) that determine the direction in which Ekiti elections usually follow are
rising against the incumbent governor. This is correct but such assumption,
poetic accumulation of our people suppositions is subject to many of variables
and probabilities which may not have good leg to stand on.

It may appear I play a devil’s advocate role, I see nothing
wrong in that and I would continue to say that Ekiti APC needs to get more
organised and be prepared if we will not like to be caught napping in the
coming governorship election. I have said it several times and would insist
that APC stakeholders need to grapple with imperative of initiation of much
needed programmes for the reinvigoration of the party in the State.

Progressives Congress need to submerge whatever difference that exist among the
leaders of the Party, due to a fall out of what might have transpired during
the reign of the former governor which
also snowballed into fatal loss of the 2014
governorship election coming together to approach the destiny of the
Party with one voice. Better said that Ekiti APC closing ranks to form a large
aggregate for synergy with serious plans and programmes put in place to earn
the confidence of the masses will certainly have a remarkable impact on the
chances of the Party come 2018.

It is my earnest hope that the agonising appraisal of the
wellbeing of the Party is onus on our leaders rather than subscribing to dogma
that; ‘‘all is well and once the Party flag bearer emerges, whatever problem
that exists will fizzle out.

Such pedantic argument bespeaks suspine
intellectualism and reinforces the thesis that the inability to come to terms
with reality of cohesion and coalescence in the Party is the bane of her
wellbeing.
