Ekiti Parapo: A Tribute To Our Heroes – By Morakinyo Oguniyi

One hundred and forty years ago,
A war was fought, a light did glow.
Ekiti Parapo, the war of unity,
To free Ekiti land, to claim our dignity.

Fabunmi of Okemesi led the brave,
The Generalissimo, fearless and grave.
With other heroes, sword in hand,
They liberated our beloved Ekiti land.

That internecine war is now history,
But it brought Yorubaland peace and unity.
If not for them, where would we be?
Would Ekiti stand as one for all to see?

Then came another struggle, another day,
Our forefathers prayed, they led the way.
With committed Obas, united in love,
They fought for Ekiti, with strength from above.

On October first, in ninety-six,
A dream came true, history fixed.
General Sani Abacha of blessed memory,
Signed Ekiti State into our story.

Today we remember, we celebrate,
Those heroes who made Ekiti great.
Military Administrators, Governors of old,
And BAO, who leads with courage bold.

The seed they sowed is growing still,
Watered by sacrifice, by strong will
