“A Place of Safety Has Turned To An Abode of Death” – FUOYE SUG Protests Death of Student
Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) Student Union Government President has cried out today in a protest that was held in the school premises concerning the death of a fellow student.
The heart cry of FUOYE Student Union Government was expressed in a circular statement signed by Àjàyí Dọtun Emmanuel and Akuraku Kowofoworola Emmanuel
It read: “Dear Colleagues, it is with a saddened and heavy heart that we mourn the gruesome demise of one of ours, Late Atanda Modupe Deborah, who before her death was a year two student of the Department of Nursing.
The cause of her death and manner in which she died is a thing of great pain to the entire student populace in FUOYE. As we say goodbye to our precious and bright such as Modupe. The members of FUOYE Student Union Government visited the morgue and were able to confirm to everyone that no part of her body was mutilated contrary to claims and rumors flying all around.
“We can confirm that not less than 12 people have been arrested in connection with the crime and we will not rest until the perpetrators are brought into justice . While we mourn her sudden loss and pay our last respects to the dead. We hereby charge every security operatives in Ekiti State to investigate and bring perpetrators of this crime to book.

“A team comprising of the Student Union Executives would pay a condolence visit to her parents and loved ones to show support for the family at this trying time . We pray God in his infinite mercies grant the departed soul eternal rest and give us the fortitude to bear the loss”
A missing 200-level student of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Atanda Modupe Deborah has been reportedly found dead.
It was gathered that the nursing student went missing after she went to class for a night reading on Monday, September 4.
Her roommates were said to had declared her missing when she didn’t return from the night reading. Her colleagues later launched a search for her, during which her books and other materials she took to the class were discovered in a large pond.
On Wednesday, she was reportedly found buried in a shallow grave behind her faculty with her eyes severely hurt before her death.
She also reportedly sustained severe injuries on her head and there are indications that she was raped.
