Pray For Our Land, Afuye Urges Muslims in Ramadan
The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye has urged our Muslim community across the State to seize the opportunity of Ramadan fasting to pray for Ekiti, Nigeria and the world as a whole.
The Speaker made this call in a press statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti.
“The critical situation in Nigeria now under this COVID-19 pandemic has made it imperative for religious leaders to pray for the country. It is therefore necessary as we start Ramadan fasting for our Muslim brothers and sisters to remember Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria as a whole in their prayers,” the release stated.

Afuye opined that “God has been kind to us in Ekiti because the scourge of the deadly disease has been effectively curtailed.” He however noted that there was need for a concerted effort to combat the spread of the pandemic.
While admonishing Muslim faithfuls, the Speaker reinstated the need not to gather in a place for prayers during the Ramadan period and follow all the laid down protocols to avoid contacting the disease. He also advised them to wash and sanitize their hands regularly during and after the Ramadan fasting.
The release also appreciates the efforts of the State government in trying to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus and the palliatives provided to alleviate the sufferings occasioned by the lockdown of the times.
