The Oyo State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, confirmed the appointment of Mrs Iyabo Yerima as the substantive Chief Judge of the state.
It would be recalled that Justice Yerima was sworn in on January 16, 2023 by Governor Seyi Makinde as acting CJ following the retirement of Justice Munta Ladipo Abimbola.
The confirmation at the plenary came following the recommendation of the House Committee on Public Petitions and Judiciary which found her infallible.
The Assembly, which was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Abiodun Fadeyi, finally confirmed her after some lawmakers acclaimed her virtues and pedigree.
Speaking, the newly-confirmed CJ pledged to restore the glory of the Oyo State Judiciary and make it the pride of the West and Africa in general.
She also said there would be a paradigm shift in the dispensation of justice in the state.
The CJ said: “I have passion, dreams and hope for a new judiciary in Oyo State.
“There will be a new Oyo State Judiciary in terms of digitalization, infrastructure, justice delivery and many other things.
“I will restore the glory of Oyo State Judiciary as the pride of the West and Africa as it used to be in the 60s”.
