The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye, has described the emergence of an Ekiti teacher, Mr Henry Olaoluwa Asubiojo as the Best Teacher in the country on Monday as a testimony of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s commitment to improved education in the State.
Mr Adewumi who was also Ekiti State Best Teacher (Secondary School category) in 2019, is a teacher at Amoye High School Ikere-Ekiti. He was announced National Best Teacher in Abuja on Monday as part of activities marking the 2020 World Teachers’ Day.
The Speaker in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, commended Mr Asubiojo for making Ekiti State proud.
Afuye disclosed that the success was not by accident but as a result of the governor’s provision of improved learning facilities across the educational institutions in the State.
He commended the governor’s various innovation through his partnership with the World Bank in the provision of rural and special subject allowances to teachers.
“The State House of Assembly will continue to collaborate with the governor in passing laws that can enhance education standard in the State,” the Speaker said.
He however urged other teachers at all levels in Ekiti State to be more hardworking as “there will always be reward for hard work and dedication to duties.”
