Incumbent LG Bosses Won’t Benefit From Tenure Extension – Ekiti Assembly

Ekiti House of Assembly has extended the tenure of local government elected officers from two to three years but says the implementation will not start from the incumbent office holders.

This development is against the backdrop of the ratification of the report submitted by the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Reuben Awoyemi, at a plenary, in Ado Ekiti.

According to the report, the extension would come to force after the December election into the Councils.

Meanwhile, before it becomes law, the Governor of the State has to accent the bill which is yet to be done.
