Afuye Greets Ekiti on 24th Anniversary of its creation, Nigeria’s Independence
The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye, has congratulated Ekiti people on the 24th anniversary of the State and the 60th independence anniversary of Nigeria.
The Speaker’s goodwill message was contained in a press release signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti.
Ekiti State was created in 1996. The Speaker commended the royal fathers and eminent personalities who spearheaded the agitation for the creation of Ekiti describing them as “our heroes past.”
Afuye said: “Nigeria needs the cooperation of everyone to sustain the developments achieved so far since our nascent democracy. Our forefathers struggled hard to have one Nigeria and we should also unite for the good of the people.”
“There is no doubt that Nigerians are passing through hard times but with patience and tolerance, things shall get better, ” the Speaker said.
He enjoined Ekiti people to support the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi, who is applying all his talents to restore Ekiti integrity and revamp our battered economy.” As the Fayemi’s administration is just clocking two years in office, Afuye said “Dr Fayemi will fulfill all his electoral promises before the expiration of his tenure.”
Commenting on the various projects going on in the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State, Afuye said that every community would be touched. He assured that all communities would be touched.
