Fakanle, Federal Commissioner Explains Mission

A Federal Commissioner, Federal Character Commission (FCC) – Representing Ekiti State, Hon. Sola Oladeji Fakanle has explained to Fountain Newsbreaker that his mission in the Commission is to ensure that employable Ekiti youth are gainfully employed into various federal institutions.

Fakanle, a distinguished public servant, banker and grassroots politician is from the historic town of Aramoko-Ekiti.

He attended AUD Primary School, Aramoko, Aramoko District Commercial Secondary School and Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti, before obtaining a B.Sc. in Sociology from University of Ife (now OAU) and an M.Sc. in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from University of Lagos.

A seasoned politician, he has served as Executive Chairman of Ekiti West Local Government and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ekiti State where he left indelible marks in community development and inclusive governance.

According to him; “the Federal Character Commission where I worked courtesies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the benevolence of my governor, HE Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and the Senate Leader, the distinguished Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele is the conscience of the nation. Our mandate is to ensure equitable distribution appointments, employment and the equitable distribution of social amenities between the sub-nationals such as to engender unity in the federation. We are to ensure no part of the country suffers marginalisation. That is why we are the conscience of the nation.

Since assumption of office, he said; “I have patronised our sons and daughters with various employment opportunities channels through some Ekiti State stakeholders to them. In the police recruitment exercise, out of 47 names submitted 33 names were approved for employment. Presently I have 56 slots submitted to the civil defence, immigration, fire service and correctional board waiting for the letters of employment.

“I have given Ekiti indigene employment in in College of Aviation, LUTH, University of Ilorin, Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State, Federal University of Agric and Technology, Okeho, Oyo State, Dental Health Registration Council, Lagos, National institute of Construction Technology and Management, Nigeria Shipper’s Council and many more. I have slots in Road Safety, National Oil Palm Research, Benin, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Federal College of Education, Iwo and in Akoka, Lagos.

“All these were distributed through our stakeholders. To our sons and daughters and our stakeholders that are yet to be patronised, please relax, it will come to your turn. What I promised is to serve in this capacity with integrity and the fear of God.”

While disclosing his plans for Ekiti in particular, he said; “I have promised to serve Ekiti and Nigeria in my new role with integrity and the fear of God,  without fear, affection or I’ll will. I will be a good ambassador of Ekiti. I want to be a workman that needs not be afraid or ashamed by being fair. All the slots I shall get belong to Ekiti indigenes. No job racketeering during my tenure, that, I have promised myself before my inauguration by the president.”
