Fayemi’s advice to rural dwellers – Speaker

 

Ekiti Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has called on the people, especially rural dwellers to protect government’s infrastructure in their communities.

This is coming just as Fayemi said no parents and wards has excuse not to enrol their children/ wards for the basic education that is now free in the state.

The governor, who was represented by the Speaker, Ekiti House of Assembly, Mr Funminiyi Afuye, made stated this on Thursday at the inauguration of a N7 million Girl-Child Skills Acquisition Centre at Ikere-Ekiti.

The skills acquisition centre situated at St Louis Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, in Ikere Local Government Area was the UBEC/SUBEB 2017 Intervention Funds 

The governor, who restated the commitment of his administration to giving more dividends of democracy to people, called for protect of government’s infrastructure across the state.

“I want to state emphatically the commitment of our administration to making our schools attractive to children of school age.

” This is done through the introduction of pupils friendly initiative as well teaching of practical agriculture and entrepreneurship and sports activities.

“Now that basic education is free and school infrastructure is being improved upon in the state, parents and guardians have no reason not to send their wards to schools,” Fayemi said.

Earlier, the Tutor-General for Ekiti South Senatorial Zone, Mrs Rhoda Ojo thanked the governor for making the skills acquisition centre a reality.

Ojo said,” The future belongs to the innovators, our girls will break the circle of poverty, enhancing their God’s given talents and be empowered for the future.”

 There was inauguration of N7.2 million Aaye Community Multipurpose Centre at Ilawe-Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local Government Area.

Fayemi used the occasion to call on rural dwellers to protect the projects and other government’s infrastructure in the domains.

Present at the even were, Mrs Yemisi Ayokunle and Mr Tunji Joseph,members representing Ekiti South West Constituencies 1 and 2 respectively at the State House of Assembly and Mr Fola Afolalu, a community representatives among others.
